I had so much fun this year at Otakon! Its been a long time since I've cosplayed something that received so much love and attention since I was Young Link six years ago (when I first attended Otakon...so long ago..) My boyfriend and I dressed up as Frieza (Freeza) and Janenba (Janemba) from DBZ! Frieza was the secret cosplay I was working on..it was killing me to keep it a secret since every time I hang out with a group of people, DBZ always becomes a topic of discussion.

"No hard feelings."
I say we did a pretty awesome job! Especially considering we only started early July, maybe even mid-July! I had NO IDEA I was gonna be cosplaying Frieza. Amy was swamped with cosplay commissions so I dropped Miaka and decided to go for Frieza! The suit was bought, everything else was made by us. My boyfriend worked very hard on his cosplay, he was running low on money..so I helped pay for the material for the tail and some more plaster of paris which he used for the armor. We're pretty proud of our costumes, but there's always room for improvement :] Otakon 2012 will definitely see a new and improved Frieza and Janenba.
Anyway here's a review day-by-day along with pictures!
Thursday
Leaving for the con was a bit slow. James woke up late, but that's okay! I got to finally watch some episodes with Frieza to get pumped for the con..i winded up making myself feel sick from being nervous, so I stopped watching it after a while. XD
James got me a delicious bagel with cream cheese and lox :D we went to Joanne's to pick up paris craft (the great thing about being late was leaving when the store opened :D) We then picked up Louis and Katie~
I just realized how I never took pics during the car ride :( I regret it..no pics of Louis and Katie T_T it was an enjoyable ride, and if it wasn't for travelling together we would have hardly saw each other. I'm so glad we went together!
When we arrived in baltimore, there were many cosplays! What made me SO happy was the amount of DBZ cosplays! It got me sooo pumped and excited to be Frieza even more. :D

This was my dinner. Took a picture mostly for the cute box, other than that I was pretty disappointed. It was waaay too small for something that cost $15.50 and only came with miso soup. I was pissseeeedddd >>
Friday
A rather annoying day..since half the time you're waiting for the dealers and artist alley to open without crazy lines. So after walking fifteen minutes to the convention center (our hotel was sooo far away :( 15-20 mins away at least..) we winded up wandering off to the mall for food...so packed. x__x after that, we went to the dealers which was also packed. I was getting frustrated between the heat (I'm very sensitive to the heat and sun, it makes me cranky and mad lol) I wanted to just look around without having to worry about sticking to people like glue. So I asked to separate and meet later..I'm really glad I did, because this was the ONLY time I got to really look in the dealers. It was then I got my beautiful Escaflowne artbooks (I'll post all of my loot at the end of the review). I was very happy to have found this dealer was still around, always in the same spot...they sell cels, posters, artbooks, miscellaneous merch all from the 90s and older!! My god this dealers was a gem for me.
This day is rather fuzzy..I'm not sure why. James was working on Janemba in the hotel room, so I mostly hung out with Sarah (who was dressed as first version of Marth) and Sam (Astro Boy).
I later met up with Fred and Sam at the dealers and then the artist alley, I bought soo many things at the artist alley...The people in the artist alley really know what we are looking for while we're there! I'll post more about that in my loot section. I also bought Katie's

After the artist alley closed, I hung out with Sam who made her switch to Cynthia for the evening. It was nice talking to her, bonding with her and talking about anything that upset us or made us happy. Whatever was on our minds really. I really love and adore Sam, she's grown to become one of my best friends. I couldn't ask for a better Haruka :]
We winded up staying at the convention center til 2am...all I could wonder was when they'd kick everyone out...lol But we decided it'd be best to leave. Oh man..I never, EVER want to be more than five minutes away from the con again. That was a scary walk home, I just tried very hard to be brave for Sam since she was really scared. She was clinging to my arm all cute-like :D I wish we were in our Neptune and Uranus costumes at that moment LOL I just looked around us a lot..behind, in front, left, right..I'd rather be in NYC when there's always a crowd of people. Baltimore its like...one or two people every so often or a big group of people and no one else around... :/
Cosplays of the day:
Vegeta, Bulma and baby Trunks. I really loved these two, they were great ^_^ Vegeta actually proposed to Bulma during the weekend. I saw a video online of it, it was very cute :] congrats you two!

Ravage from Transformers. I was gonna cosplay a human form of this character with an old friend, so this cosplay made me happy to see.
One of my favorite cosplays at the con...no one does this version of Zuko, and this cosplayer pulled it off so well!!! ^__^ it made me want to hug her, but I fought the urge to lol
The Zora prince, also from Twilight Princess. Omg, I just adore this costume..she made the material out of something shiny and rubbery looking, she looked like a fish. Just as the Zora would in real life ;w; I adored this costume!
Uteeenaaaa ^_^ Utena Tenjou in her princess outfit. I adore Utena, any cosplay of Utena instantly lifts my spirits.
Dilandau Albatou, Hitomi Kanzaki, Eriya, Folken Fanel, and Dryden Fassa of The Vision of Escaflowne. AHHHH this group made my day! I rushed over to them to get a picture, losing sight of James and Sarah. XD it made me sad somewhat because I was almost gonna be Hitomi :(

Saturday
The big day...the only day I cosplayed. Fred did our make-up :3 it looked spectaculaaar. I kept messing up with the lines on the cheeks (I used eyeliner) but what was awesome was how easy it was to make it white again..it wasn't one mistake and damn, you're screwed! XD
The make-up and getting ready took a while...we didn't get out of the room until 3 or so..missing major parts of the only DBZ photoshoot that day :( We still got some pics taken though which is nice! There were a lot of very nice people there. None of them were rude nor judging of others like how it is in larger cosplay fanbases.

We got a lot of attention with our cosplays. A lot of people thought James was Cooler...or Cell, King Cold..and when I wasn't around, someone thought he was Frieza! Most people got it right though which made us very happy! James stopped traffic, literally! LOL! This guy driving in his car stopped and rolled down his window and said "I got a get picture of ya'll" so he took it, stopping traffic behind him...and as we continued walking the guy is like "I need to get a better picture" and he had a pic with me, James, Fred (who wasn't in cosplay but he's super tall) lol it was just great. We got pictures with kids..I wasn't in the pic since my costume was half off lol but James was in it, it was for little boys at camp. James made his DBZ face aka constipated face and the little boy next to him made the same face LOL it was just great! We also had a group shot with a family and their kids. It was pretty awesome I felt like the characters at the themeparks, because to them we ARE those characters..it was so cool. The kids are what made my day in that costume. Like, a mom and her two kids (they had to be 8 or something) they are wearing the Saiyan hair crowns they were passing around at the con. The little girl looks at me and says to her brother "There's Frieza, go beat him up!" and the little boy is like, PETRIFIED he was like "Nooo!" and avoided eye contact with me. The little girl was so cute, she came back over and apologized to James for stepping on his tail. They were sooo cute lol
While the costumes were amazing, it did get tiring after a while :( like we just wanted to go to the artist alley..and it took an hour to get there from inside the building because of all the pictures XD I'm glad everyone liked our costumes though, that mattered most of all. The time, effort, and money (at least $200 maybe more was spent on my costume..) made it all worthwhile.
I got changed at around 7 or so I wanted to go back to the con, but my feet hurt so much. I winded up spending most of the time after showering and getting James' red off of him.. (it was alllll over the place...god what a nightmare. Mine came off very easy though. XP So after we got out my friends already wanted to go back to the con...I was still too tired and James didn't want to go back so we winded up staying. I wanted to go back to the con but not by myself :/
We watched the two Cooler movies (That's DBZ in case you didn't know) we fell asleep during some of it. Then when it got turned off..me, Sam, and Mark were up being goofballs. ADAMANT GARAGE SALE!!! Sold. :D

Ahhh. James made me do it >> and then his make-up got all over me. I thought it'd just be a peck...baah >___> and no we don't like yaoi we just like kissing each other. .__. it sucked not being able to kiss him all day. He kept smacking my butt though lol

Sunday
The last day was rather annoying and hectic. I rather not rant about it..it was really just getting out of the room and making sure all of our stuff was packed in the car.
After finally packing we head for the con at 12, spending our day at the dealers. I bought my Frieza and Goku figure then, and my Higurashi PC game :D
After leaving Baltimore (like ten minutes) we went to Cracker Barrel. I'm not a huge fan of the food itself, but I loved the fact you can order from the kids menu even if you're a full grown adult. My favorite thing is the apple cider omg it is the BEST I hope I get to have some again this weekend when I'm in Florida. It was pretty hilarious that the waitress thought split the check between the two tables meant making sure both checks were evenly split by the cost of the bill....x__x just wow..
On the way home, I had great conversations with James, Louis and Katie. Some of it made me want to cry, remembering what a horrible, apathetic person I was back then. It makes me happy to know I really have improved :] Katie actually inspired me to continue writing the story I've had in my head now since '07...gotta get crackinnn :D
I just love kid cosplays...and its not even something like Naruto or Pokemon. I just love it. Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist and the girl from Portal 2
Blurry as hell, but its James next to Kenshin. Its one of his favorite anime series so I wanted a picture of him next to it..yeah just imagine me when I have kids...lol

Sailor Neptune mirror compact and necklace. Sam, my Haruka has both too ^_^ I bought her the necklace. Its just so beautiful. They had brooches too..but I have brooches and I never wear them...so necklaces are better. I'm actually wearing mine now ^^
Heart Container and pink fairy pillow that makes sure my heart meter is full after every good night sleep or lazy lon lon nap. :D
So after that long con review, I'd like to mention obviously I chose not to have a cosplay blog anymore and just leave it at this one.
I hope everyone enjoyed Otakon 2011 and hope they had that ice cold water but only when its one dollar. :]
